Hi everyone sorry I haven't posted in so long, so today's going to be a longish one!
Anyway so, the other day we were in Ollantytambo Peru, we were up there because we were going too see the Machu Piccchu our hotel was called (Apu lodge) I know a poo lodge, but it was actually named after a Peruvian sacred mountain. It was actually a lot more like I thought South /Central America would be like because it was a lot more traditional than some of the other places we have been, there was dancing in the square every night. One night the singing was so bad I couldn't even get to sleep properly it was horrible and then the next day we had to go to the Machu Picchu. One thing that i found suprising when we were on the train because I thought the Incas were around the time of BC but actually they were only from the 1400. We were about halfway up, the one side was pretty much a sheer cliff face so obviously Will was a little bit freaked out, but then out of nowhere the outlines of the ruins showed up, it looked like a massive kingdom. When we went to the entrance gate and peered inside it looked so much bigger than you see in the pics, it is quite scary really. So first it was my ingenious idea to walk up the stairs and go see the hut, at the top we found a load of Alpacas they looked so cool but very woolly. Then we found a spot too have lunch, mine was horrible. We walked around for a bit saw some amazing stone work, and the sun gods throne ( also looking out for Condors). There was a sacred rock there, more of a mountain in my opinion but we did not have enough time to go up there .Before we got back to the bus we saw a spring of water running down the kingdom it was very suprising to see water running from the top of a mountain. But anyway I don't want to keep ranting away, well actually everyone's playing cards so I really want to join in.
Hope you are all fine, we are all good, staying in a lovely hotel got a lush pool.
I'll write again soon bye for now.
Looks great! What a place! Love the photo!

Wow Sam
ReplyDeleteGreat blog. Me and my mum watched a programme of Fern Britton and Denise Van Outen going up Machu Piccchu for charity, so I recognised your picture straight away. The only thing that is missing from the picture is me!!! love Jaz
Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteIt looks really cool. You know something really strange is that while you were in Macchu Piccchu, there was 2 programmes on over here about it which is really strange. I was watching both hoping to see you. One of them was the programme Justine mentions above and the other one was where Ricky Gervais sends his friend there - Karl Pilkington. I didn't know much about Macchu Piccchu but now i know alot more. Hope you continue to have an amazing time.
Love Dee x
dearest Sam
ReplyDeleteI just typed a long blog and have lost it so here we go again.
I have not blogged 'cause we have had computer probs and been away in Spain. We have tried to SKYPE but we have not been online at the same time.
I thought it was a condor in the photo and then I realised it was a sun god - YOU it looks fab u lous and a, not to be forgotten experience. Thank you for your accompanying account it gave us a good picture.
I expect you are well on your way to New Zealand by now as I understand you are hoping to be there from 20th Nov?
We are off to Majorca in the morning for one week. Here's hoping the sun will be shining as we have had a few foul days in GB this week.
So much for the summerhouse in the garden. Although it looks first-rate it will be a while before we are able to have some happy days in it. I am hoping Grandad will be able to BBQ more next year as well, his latest thing ia an arbour seat where he can sit & cooook Ha Ha we shall see.
Everybody is fine although there have been the usual tummy bugs etc flying around the children, touch wood, all is well as I write.
R. Devon went to Gt. Ormond St. nothing new but he will be receiving some treatment in Bristol followed by a couple of (expected) ops.
All the children are looking forward to Christmas Sam - what a different time you will have this year - on the beach no doubt.
Love to you all keep us posted re your next escapade
We miss you and love you loads, Keep well and look after each other.
