Last Friday we had a 'something' while we were eating dinner, we had just ordered our food when it happened. The odd thing was, before it happened my Mum went all cold and had goose bumps all up her arms, then she thought she was going to pass out, she also said to Will, 'stop rocking the table,' which we all thought was an odd thing to say because Will clearly had his hands on his knees. Then everything started to sway. Everyone felt dizzy but then it stopped. One of the waiters turned on the tv, put the news on and midway through their speech the whole newsroom started shaking. The next day we went to a cafe, we asked one of the waitresses, 'do you know how powerful the something was yesterday?' She said that it was about 5.9, it was actually a pretty big earthquake! so, anyway I wanted a bigger one but it was still pretty amazing.
I've actually been getting into all the Harry Potters so today I'm going to download them all onto my Ipod. Check out my picture above.
hope you are all good, we're fine chow chow!
A couple of years ago I experienced an earthquake larger than 5.9. It registered 7.0 on the scale but, forvive the pun, it was no great shakes. It happened right here, in Belton, in the middle of the night. The epi-centre was about 25 miles away. Actually, it was quite scary. The house shook an awful lot and at its worst I imagined the house was falling down, but the only damage done was that the tremor loosened some paint around a pre-existing crack in the wall just outside my study door (the room where you sleep when you come to stay) and a few flakes of it fell to the floor. I think they might still be there.

Love your picture Sam! I also love Harry Potter, so I hope you enjoy them. And your Grandad is right....5.9 is quite enough for anyone. 7.0 is too much to be fun!

You're drawing is coming on. Did you make the pancakes from the recipe I sent to you. Maybe it was your stomach rumbling reaching 5.9 on the richter scale!!!

Hi Sam,
ReplyDeleteI love the drawing. I have just caught up with all of your travels of the past week. The boat trip sounded amazing, with lots of superb wildlife and very well written for someone to imagine exactly what it was like.
I can't believe you have experienced an earthquake...that is one of my top things to do before I'm 90, another is to see a volcano erupting and another is to see Macchu Picchu! So I think I would love to be on the trip with you all, but tis good to pretend to be there through your blogs.
Have lots of fun!!

Can't believe I haven't posted a 'comment' in so long... don't think I'm not keeping up with your adventure Sam... I am...! I even read what's going on to the girls. Have to be honest though I think they prefer smashing there toys onto the wooden floor! That earthquake sounds F R E A K Y, I can't believe you were all ok. Some totally mental stuff is happening to you!! All you get here is the sky box switching itself off and not recording Eastenders cause of a storm - thats about the worst things that happens ha ha (well at least in my life). I'm starting work again Monday, very weird - girls will be 9 months old. They are hilarious, especially when they try talking to each other and nicking each others toys... it will only get worse! Tim is really well and sends his love. He wishes he was with you on your travels and says that when the girls are older we are defo going to do the same thing - roll on 5 years time. Stay safe cutey and say hi to your Mum and Will - I keep up with yours Mum's blog t00 :)) xxx
